Richmond, Contra Costa County
During World War II the four Kaiser shipyards in Richmond launched 747 ships, more than any other shipyard complex in the country. Tens of thousands of workers, many of them women, came from across the nation to build them. The Rosie the Riveter World War II Home Front National Historical Park, created in 2000, tells their story along the waterfront.
